Our take
Stark Builders is a family design and build studio in Fairfield, specialising in major renovations of Queenslanders and timber character homes. Its service brings architectural design, interiors, engineering, approvals and construction under one roof. The company describes a dedicated construction crew and a deliberately limited number of projects each year. It suits owners seeking substantial changes to an older Brisbane home, particularly raising, extending or restoring its existing character.

Who will you deal with?
Philip is the owner and principal builder, while Fletcher is managing director and leads projects from the first meeting to handover. Xanthe coordinates interiors and the final construction stages, and Sebastian handles estimating and systems. The current about page also introduces the studio team and site crew, with Mick named as site supervisor. Ask who will be your everyday project contact.

We added a big open plan kitchen, living and dining out the back of our Bulimba house plus a new master bedroom and ensuite. From the first meeting through to handover about they were consistently good to deal with. Fletcher set our expectations honestly at the start on cost and time and both were pretty much spot on. Xanthe kept us…
Just moved back into our renovated home and every time I walk through the door I’m blown away. Huge thanks to the Stark Builders team for pulling off an incredible renovation and putting in the hard work to make the process as smooth as possible. Fletcher and the team took my rough idea and turned it into a fully realised plan, guiding me through every step from start to finish. The attention to detail was top notch…
